Prof. Nataliya Mukan, Sc.D. (Education), Ph.D. (Education) was born on December 09, 1973 in Kolomyia, Ukraine. She is an alumnus of Chernivtsi State University named after Yurii Fedkovych, Faculty of Foreign Languages (1991). She graduated from Lviv Polytechnic State University in 2000 where she studied Finance. In 2006 she defended her Ph.D. dissertation, in 2011 – Sc.D. dissertation, and obtained the degree of habilitated doctor, in 2014 she got the academic title of professor.
Professor’s scientific interests lie in comparative education, theory and methodology of professional pedagogy, teachers’ continuous professional development, specialists’ training in the system of higher education.
Being the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Lviv Polytechnic (2011-2019) professor Mukan developed the cooperation with such international organizations and institutions as British Council in Ukraine, US Peace Corps in Ukraine, Embassy of Japan in Ukraine in order to ensure the possibilities for staff professional development as well as ESP and EAP teaching methods improvement.
She is a holder of International scholarships and grants, among which Scholarship of International Council for Canadian Studies (May-June 2003, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta, Canada – Conducting PhD research on professional development of teachers in Canada); Erasmus+ KA2 project 574064-EPP-1-2016-1-LT-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP-DocHub Structuring cooperation in doctoral research, transferrable skills training, and academic writing instruction in Ukraine's regions (February 2017, School of Management, University of Tampere, Finland – Academic writing: syllabus development); Erasmus+ KA107, staff mobility (April 2017 – the Foreign Languages Center and International Mobility Office, Silesian University of Technology, Poland); Erasmus+ KA107, staff mobility (March 2018 – Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland); The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic for the Support of Mobility of Students, PhD Students, University Teachers, Researchers and Artists, University of Preshov in Preshov, Slovak Republic (October-November 2019 – Conducting research on public school teachers’ professional development in Slovakia).
Professor Mukan has been the supervisor of 17 doctoral dissertations and reviewed 26 doctorates. Since 2016 she is the Chair of Specialized Scientific Council for dissertation defense in Education at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
